SoHo is a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City. Its name is derived from South of Houston St. SoHo starts south of Houston, and everything north of Canal Street, between Broadway and Crosby. In this blog I will list some places to visit while you’re in SoHo and where to stay.
If you would like to stay somewhere centrally located to restaurants, great shopping and easy access to the subway, I would suggest staying at Arlo Soho. Arlo Soho is located on 231 Hudson St. The staff was friendly, the rooms are on the smaller size, but we had a nice city view. What I enjoyed the most was the amenities such as a rooftop bar, a library, Dylan’s candy bar in the lobby, and happy hour with courtesy drinks from 5-7pm. The night of our arrival, we enjoyed our free glass of wine in the courtyard which has heated cedar cabins to lounge in. My husband and I gave Arlo Soho a five-star review.
The morning after we arrived, I could not wait to eat breakfast at Dominique Ansel Bakery. I’ve been waiting to try a cronut for years. We walked from our hotel to the closest location in SoHo, 189 Spring St. Dominique Ansel is a French pastry chef and is best known for inventing the cronut. A cronut is a croissant-donut hybrid. We arrived around 10am and ordered two mochas to go with our cronut and almond croissant. The cronut flavor of the month when we visited in February was strawberry and honey walnut. The flavors were fantastic together. So delicious and it did not disappoint my expectations.
After our breakfast, we did a little shopping. SoHo is a very popular neighborhood for shopping in New York City. The most popular area is on Broadway. This is where I found a wide range of shops like H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Celine, Chloe, and Miu Miu.
We worked up an appetite after shopping, so we had an early dinner at Black Tap Craft Burgers. The SoHo location is at 529 Broome Street. Black Tap specializes in award-winning burgers and crazy milkshakes. Bring your loose pants, because you’re going to need them. We both ordered the All-American burger with fries. The burger was grilled just the way I like it. The meat to bun ratio was perfect. The fries were great, crispy on the outside with just enough salt on them. All around us people at different tables were ordering the crazy shakes. I just could not eat another bite of anything after finishing my burger and fries. It was fun to watch how they make each one. The next time I dine here I will order one before my meal.
SoHo New York has something for foodies, shoppers, artists, and families. I hope this blog gave you some ideas of where to eat and visit the next time you’re in SoHo. Have you been to this neighborhood in New York City? Leave a message in the comments below.
