Who is Banksy? Honestly, I can’t answer that question, because no one knows for sure who he is. Banksy is seen as one of the most controversial street artists in the world. He has developed an art culture devoted to his works. His art can impact any location at any given moment. (1) In this blog, I share my experience with The World of Banksy Exhibit in Paris.
At Espace-Lafayette Druout, I visited The World of Banksy, The Immersive Experience. The art gallery is located at 44 Rue du Faubourg in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris. I attended the exhibit this past November.
Tip- Buy tickets online before you head to Paris. We went on a Monday, and there was a long line to purchase tickets. I bought our tickets the week before, and there was no wait to enter the gallery. Tickets for adults are 14 euro, kids- 12 euro, and under 5 are free.
I have been a fan of Banksy for years. Especially after watching his documentary “Exit through the Gift Shop.” The exhibit has most of his famous works on display: Balloon Girl, Mobile Lovers, Flower Thrower, Well Hung Lover, Gangster Rat, and Napalm to name a few. If you’re unfamiliar with Banksy’s works, most of the art are satirical images that tackle issues such as poverty and migration.
One of my favorite art pieces is the NOLA Umbrella Girl. NOLA was created in response to the hurricanes that devastated New Orleans.
The World of Banksy, The Immersive Experience is truly a powerful and thought-provoking exhibit. If you’re a fan, stop by and see his most famous artwork that are displayed all over the world, at one location in Paris. The World of Banksy has been extended until June 30, 2020. What are your favorite art pieces from Banksy? Leave a comment below.
